Coach Paul Sacco

Coach Paul Sacco is the head coach at St. Joseph High School in Hammonton, New Jersey (11-0 in 2006). This year will be his 26rd year as head coach of the Wildcats. These years have been the most successful in the very small Catholic schools' history. He has an astonishing 216-42-5 record in his 25 years at St. Joseph. With 216 career wins, Sacco is tied with the late Tom Brown for fourth place in South Jersey history. Only retired Delsea coach John Oberg (230), Florence's Joe Frappolli (228), and the late Howard "Skeets" Irvine (223) of Collingswood have more wins.

It is no freak accident that Paul Sacco is among the winningest coaches in New Jersey. He has developed a winning progam that has a reputation of success and respect known throughout the state.

Despite a massive rebuilding project, the Wildcats became the first New Jersey school in any non-public or public-school section to capture eight straight NJSIAA titles. The Cape-Atlantic National-champion Wildcats, who scored a 14-0 win over Bishop Eustace in the Non-Public Group 2 state final, went 11-0 and ran their winning streak to 30 games, the state's longest current streak. St. Joseph also tied another record with its 18th overall NJSIAA title. Coach Sacco's Wildcats are perennial play-off qualifiers. There is a rumor in New Jersey that the State and Division Titles must always go through Hammonton.

Building this well respected program has required total dedication and determination on the part of Paul and his team. St. Joseph is one of the smallest school in the state. Paul has been selected as the National High School Strength Coach of the Year as well as the Coach of the Year in his state divison. He has been inducted into the Coaches Hall of Fame in New Jersey and South Jersey.

Paul's reputation as a outstanding football coach is only the beginning. Paul has developed a powerlifting team that is second to none in the state as well. The strength programs that he has developed and nurtured have expanded the notoriety for Championships for his school. St Joseph's power lifting team has also captured the State title year after year. Paul is a world class powerlifted himself and holds many world records for his weight class. "The work we do in the weightroom pays off on the field!" Twelve months a year the Wildcats push and sweat in their weightroom. Be the best you can be. This is the mantra of Paul Sacco and St. Joseph Football. It seems to be working.
